Certificate III in Solid Plastering

We deliver the nationally recognised Certificate III in Solid Plastering CPC31008.

The course consists of Core Competency Units which cannot be substituted and Elective Competency Units, which can be chosen by the apprentice.

Apprentices looking to complete the Solid Plastering course will undertake a four year period of training. Individual training plans are developed based on apprentice and employer needs. Specific training sessions are arranged in consultation and cooperation with the apprentice's employer.

  • Reading Plans
  • Carry Out Measurements and Calculations
  • Using Hand and Power Tools
  • Surface Preparation
  • Using Levelling Devices
  • Handling Materials
  • Scaffolding
  • Elevating Work Platforms

Specific Trade Subjects include:

  • Use Solid Plastering Tools and Equipment
  • Apply Float and Render to Straight and Curved Surfaces
  • Apply Set Coats
  • Restore and Renovate Solid Plasterwork
  • Install Cast Plaster and Paper Faced Cornice
  • Carry Out Concreting to Simple Forms
  • Install Pre-cast Decorative Mouldings

The Building Skills Centre has a number of trainers and assessors, qualified in particular disciplines or trades. More than likely each apprentice will have the benefit of two or three trainers throughout the duration of their apprenticeship training.

Solid Plasterers apply decorative and protective coatings of plaster, cement or similar materials to the interiors and exteriors of buildings.

Solid Plasterers need to:

  • enjoy practical work
  • have good hand/eye coordination
  • be able to learn to work from plans
  • be willing to work at heights on scaffolding or ladders
  • have good health and stamina.
