Certificate III in Roof Tiling


We deliver the nationally recognised Certificate III in Roof Tiling CPC30808.

The course consists of Core Competency Units which cannot be substituted and Elective Competency Units, which can be chosen by the apprentice.

Apprentices looking to complete the Roof Tiling course will undertake a three year period of training. Individual training plans are developed based on apprentice and employer needs. Specific training sessions are arranged in consultation and cooperation with the apprentice's employer.

  • Use Explosive Power Tools

Specific Trade Subjects include:

  • Use Roof Tiling Tools and Equipment
  • Work Safely on Roofs
  • Tile a Regular roof
  • Tile an Irregular roof
  • Repair and Renovate Tile Roofs
  • Fix Shingles
  • Repair and Replace Valleys, Valley Irons and Flashings

The Building Skills Centre has a number of trainers and assessors, qualified in particular disciplines or trades. More than likely each apprentice will have the benefit of two or three trainers throughout the duration of their apprenticeship training.

Roof Tilers cover houses and other buildings with roof tiles, slates, shingles or steel sheeting to form waterproof surfaces.

Roof Tilers need to:

  • enjoy practical and manual work
  • have a good sense of balance
  • have good hand/eye coordination
  • be willing to work at heights and outdoors.
