Certificate III in Bricklaying/Blocklaying

We deliver the nationally recognised Certificate III in Bricklaying/Blocklaying CPC30108.

The course consists of Core Competency Units which cannot be substituted and Elective Competency Units, which can be chosen by the apprentice.

Apprentices looking to complete the Bricklaying/Blocklaying course will undertake a three/four year period of training (depending on the State). Individual training plans are developed based on apprentice and employer needs. Specific training sessions are arranged in consultation and cooperation with the apprentice's employer.

The Building Skills Centre has a number of trainers and assessors, qualified in particular disciplines or trades. More than likely each apprentice will have the benefit of two or three trainers throughout the duration of their apprenticeship training.

Bricklayers lay bricks, precut stone, concrete and other types of building blocks in mortar to construct and repair walls, foundations, partitions, arches and other structures. Bricklayers work outdoors and may have to work at heights or in tunnels and shafts.

Bricklayers need to:

  • enjoy practical work
  • have good hand/eye coordination
  • have technical aptitude in order to follow plans
  • be able to work at heights and outdoors
  • be physically fit and healthy.
